Badingham

The Sign
The sign was erected in 2013 to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, albeit a little late. It is made from galvanised steel and gives the impression of being in 3D. An owl sits on top overlooking the church and an oak tree. The 2012 date and a wheatsheaf can be seen at the top of the post. Next to the sign is a bench with the village name also included and across the road, a small casting of a white horse stood over the village name; this probably represents the White Horse Inn next to it.

The Name and Population
The population was 489 at the 2011 census. The village was called Badincham / Hadincham in the Domesday Book. The name means "Homestead/village associated with B(e)ada", taken from Old English.

Other Points of Interest

The church is dedicated to St John the Baptist and has a Seven Sacrament font, one of only forty in the country. The parish church is situated on an old pagan holy site called the knoll of Burstonhaugh.

The village is located on the A1120, Suffolk Tourist Route from Yoxford to Stowmarket.
