The Sign
Made of wrought iron the sign shows three features: a sheaf of corn on top, a ploughshare in the main frame and what looks like either water or a flock of sheep at the bottom!

The Name and Population
The village was called Flochetuna and Floketon in 1201. The name means "The farmstead or estate of a man called Floki", from Old English and Old Scandinavian. The population was 117 at the 2011 census.

Other Points of Interest
The church is dedicated to St Mary.

Flowton Priory was once in the village until dismantled and moved to Hertfordshire in 1928.
