The Sign
The sign was originally erected in 2008 and located in the Market Place. The sign is topped with an Agnus Dei (lamb of god) crest (On a wreath Or and Azure upon a mount Vert a paschal lamb Argent supporting a cross-staff Or flying a pennant Azure charged with a woolpack Argent), which represents the church. The shield is the town arms which were awarded in 1618 and consist of: azure background, a chevron erminoise between three woolsacks argent. This relates to the importance of the wool trade industry back in the Middle Ages.
