Higham - St Stephen
The Sign
The village sign was made by Neil Horne of H Signs and erected in 2019. The sign features the new round tower church of St Stephen, the vicarage and a few of the estate cottages in the background. the war memorial is on the left, which is situated on Lower Green and to the right is a ploughed field with representations of the surrounding countryside including pheasants and daffodils. Below the name are what looks like wheat or corn and a root vegetable, representing agriculture. The sign is located just off the A14 slip road before reaching the village.
The Name and Population
The population was 156 at the 2011 census. The name means "High homestead/village' or 'high hemmed-in land", from Old English.

Higham is split into three parts: Upper Green, Middle Green and Lower Green.
The Broom's Barn agricultural experiment station is in the village.
There is another village called Higham in south Suffolk.
