Hunston

The Sign
The Hunston sign is a shield or blazon. The gold cross between five martlets on azure are the arms of Edward the Confessor. At the bottom are two rather faded Tudor Roses. The shield also forms part of the West Suffolk Council logo, where the village lies.

The Name and Population
The population was 197 at the 2011 census. The village was called Hunterstuna in 1086 and Hunterston in 1197. The name means "The farmstead or estate of the hunter or huntsman" from Old English.

Other Points of Interest
The church is dedicated to St Michael with some interesting Early English architecture, but the font is Norman.
