Milden

The Sign
The sign represents the plant Melde or Chenopodium album. The plant is eaten in various places around the world, but is also considered a weed. Also known as goosefot or lamb's quarters. The village may well have been named after this plant, orach which is a member of the chenopodium family. The plant could easily have been part of the staple diet in days gone by in the area.

The Name and Population
The name means "Melda's people" or "Orach place" from Old English. It was called Mellinga in 1086. The population was 101 at the 2011 census.

The church has no tower and is dedicated to St Peter.
