Playford

The Sign
The village signs forms the top part of the parish notice board. Unfortunately the sign is buried away beneath a tree and difficult to see. The theme is common in Suffolk where there are two heavy horses, possibly Suffolk Punches, pulling a plough. The sign was made by Titchmarsh and Goodwin from Ipswich. It was erected in 1980.

The Name and Population
The village was called Plegeforda in 1086. The name means " The ford where sports were held" from Old English. The population was 215 at the 2011 census.

Other Points of Interest
The church is dedicated to St Mary.
