The Sign
The village sign is mounted on top of a directional finger post with the village name repeated on a triangular shaped frame which may represent the shape of the parish. On top is a golden crown, possibly of St Edmund.

The Name and Population
The population was 952 at the 2011 census. The village was called Trostuna in 1086. The name means "Trost(a)'s farm/settlement" from Old English.

Other Points of Interest
The church is dedicated to St Mary.

The Bull pub has been a central part of the village since 1800, outside which the village sign stands.
