Tunstall

The Sign
The sign is simple consisting of a metal plate cut-out of the conifer trees in Tunstall Forest above the name. The location of the sign is on the B1078 road to Campsea Ashe.

The Name and Population
The population was 513 at the 2011 census. It was called Tunestal in 1086 and Tunstall in 1242. The name means "The site of a farm or farmstead" from Old English.

Other Points of Interest
The church is dedicated to St Michael and All Angels.

The Robert Louis Stevenson, 'Black Arrow' is set in Tunstall Forest.

The forest lost thousands of trees in the 1987 storm, like many in this area.
