The Sign
The Beck Row sign has seen some changes over time, the original sign had an airplane flying over trees and a wheatsheaf which represented the rural nature of the area with the influence of the local airbase. The sign was replaced in 2005 with a double-sided clock on top, however the clocks did not seem to function properly and the sign was replaced again in 2013, replacing the clock with a flag of union between the USA and Great Britain, with a badge of the RAF in between. The main panel was not changed. The main panel is split into four segments by a red cross holding shields related to the towns history. Top left showing sheep beside a stream or beck. Top right are three aircraft: KC135, Wellington Bomber and a Handley-Page biplane bomber, which have been based at the RAF Mildenhall at some point. Bottom Left showing an oak tree and leaves representing local woodlands. Bottom right is a farmer engaged in harvesting in the old traditional way making stooks ready for collection. It seems that between the panels, one quarter is RAF and three quarters agriculture and countryside.

There is also a pennant hanging from a beacon close by in a field next to the church, replicating the village sign on one side and the arms of the Forest Heath District Council on the other. The design depicts symbols representing St Edmund and King Edward the Confessor. This was down on a recent visit and believed not to be going back up.

The Name and Population
The population is around 3000 people and close to RAF Mildenhall airbase. During the medieval era, Beck Row was a part of the larger Mildenhall parish. The name “Beck Row” is believed to derive from “Beck” meaning stream or brook and “Row” referring to a line of houses. It likely refers to the village’s proximity to a stream that flowed through the area.

Other Points of Interest
The airbase has been present at Beck Row for over 70 years.

The church is dedicated to St John, which was built around the mid to late 1870's.

The area surrounding Beck Row has a long history of human habitation, dating back to prehistoric times. Archaeological evidence suggests that the region was settled during the Neolithic period, and various artifacts such as flint tools have been discovered in the vicinity.
