The Sign
The wrought iron sign stands near the village hall in the centre of the village. The sign depicts Bartholomew, a monk who was born in Cotton Hall, all surrounded by a stylised "C" for the village name, which could also represent a moat which are found in the parish. The sign commemorates the Queen's Silver Jubilee and was erected in 1977.
The Name and Population
The population was 526 in 2011 rising by 16 from 2005. Called Codetuna, Cotetuna, coti(n)tuna, Cottuna or Kodetun in 1086. The name means "Cod(d)a's farm/settlement.
