The Sign

The sign was erected to commemorate the Queen's Silver Jubilee, shown by the crown on top and the dates on each side of the sign. It was designed by Mr R. Waterman and made by Douglas Holland and Dennis Stebbings (Addy & Long). The sign has seven main features all included inside the stylised map of the parish with power lines from the national grid starting at Sizewell, these are:

The Name and Population
Known as Dallingahou, Delingahou in 1086 and Dalingeho around 1150. The name means 'The hill-spur of the family of followers of a man called D(e)alla', from Old English. The population was 171 in 2011.

Other Points of Interest

In 2009, £500,000 worth of gold coins were found in a field near the village.
