Darsham

The Sign
The sign depicts a Great Eastern Railway steam train passing over the level crossing on the A12, the Ipswich to Lowest railway line, which passes through the southernmost part of parish. The sign is located in the village centre close to Priory Lane. The same roundel can also be found above the entrances to the new village hall.

The Name and Population
The population was 300 at the 2011 census. The name could mean "Home of the Deer", where deer was still being hunted up into the 18th century or "The homestead of a man called Deor", from Old English. It was called Ders(h)am / Diresham in 1086 and Dersham still in 1224.
