Ousden

The Sign
The sign was erected in 1996, being donated by Roy and Doreen Clayton from the village. The name sits on top with a swooping Barn Owl beneath trying to catch rabbits in the wheat field. The church of St Peter sits in the background. There are also plenty of flowers and trees along the edges, including poppies and oak leaves.

The Name and Population
The village was known as Uuesdana in the Domesday Book. The name means "Owl valley" as depicted on the sign, from Old English. The population was 266 at the 2011 census.

Other Points of Interest
The church has Norman roots.
