The Sign
There are two identical village signs here, the first one erected in 2011, made of wrought iron and set in a brick plinth. The flora and fauna on the sign represent Red Lodge Heath, a Site of Special and Scientific Interest which include some rare species including the digger wasp or five banded weevil wasp. A blue butterfly and two robins are also shown

The Name and Population
The population was 3,834 at the 2011 census. Red Lodge became a civil parish in 1987, having previously been part of Freckenham parish.

Other Points of Interest
Discovery of the wasp population in 2005 by English Nature meant that Forest Heath District Council had to adapt proposed housing and school development plans in this area of the village.

The 2010 Doctor Who audio drama The Demons of Red Lodge is set in Red Lodge in 1665.
