Trimley St Mary

The Sign
A simple sign unveiled on the 1st September 1978 to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. Designed and made by Mary Moore of the Brandeston Forge. The sign is representative of agriculture, an era gone by as the villages are very quickly becoming housing estates; It shows a man guiding his horse and wagon.

The Name and Population
The population was 3,665 at the 2011 census. The name means "The woodland clearing of a man called Trymma", from Old English. It was called Tremelaia, Tremlega in the Domesday Book, and Tremle Beate Marie in 1254, including the church suffix.

Other Points of Interest
The church is dedicated to St Mary as  can be guessed from the name! and stands in the same graveyard as Trimley St Martin.
