Ufford

The Sign
Ufford is famous for the Suffolk Punch and proudly displays one on the village sign. Every Punch horse can be traced back to 'Crisp's Stallion' of Ufford, foaled in 1768 and is one of the rarest of the heavy horses. Below the name is the crown of King Uffa and water representing the River Deben which flows around the eastern edge of the parish. The sign was commissioned by the local WI, designed by John Reid a former resident and made by Hector Moore at the Brandeston Forge. The plaque at the top of the post shows it was erected in 1985.
